THE BURTOWN ESTATE
burtown house and the fennell family.
Once the centre of a 2000 acre estate and built for Robert Power, High Sheriff of Kildare, in the first part of the 18th century, Burtown House is marked on early maps as Power’s Grove.
This ancestral land stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Fennell family, spanning over three generations. James and Joanna Fennell, accompanied by their children, call this historic main house their home, preserving its authenticity since the first half of the 18th century.
It is a place where the spirit of understanding the origins of what we consume is fostered and nurtured. Every minute detail, from the meticulously tended gardens to the locally sourced produce, manifests the family's commitment to this founding principle.
Burtown cultivates a significant portion of its food on the estate itself, using only organic and regenerative methods ensuring a genuine and flavourful experience for every guest.
Visitors to Burtown not only have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscape and immerse themselves in the history of the estate but also engage in a sensory journey with whiskey tastings and tours.
